CO (carbon monoxide), which impairs indoor air quality, should not be confused with CO2 (carbon dioxide). The physiological effect of carbon monoxide is no longer unknown to anyone, but less attention is paid to the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in interior spaces.

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a colorless, odorless gas found naturally in the air, its typical level in urban environments is 400-500 ppm, while in cleaner environments it is around 300 ppm. At this low concentration, it is not harmful to health.

The carbon dioxide (CO2) level of residential buildings can be considered acceptable up to 1500 ppm.

During breathing, CO2 is produced, in case of inadequate ventilation, its concentration can rise in closed spaces.

It causes headaches, concentration disorders and a decrease in cognitive ability in the occupants of office, school and commercial spaces, while it causes sleep disturbances in the home environment.

Very high CO2 levels are not the only danger to health.

The high CO2 level resulting from inadequate ventilation has a harmful effect on the immune system and nervous system in case of long-term exposure.

Carbon dioxide is heavier than air, so it is recommended to place the devices used to detect it at eye level or lower.
